According to several sources, federal authorities have shut down the popular urban website, WorldStarHipHop.com. WorldStar is known for showing rap videos, footage of rappers engaging in ignorant behavior, fights, newsclips and the occasional sex tape. In November 2010, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill (Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act), in which the Attorney General gains the right to shut down websites with a court order if copyright infringement is deemed “central to the activity” of the site.
Federal authorities have already shut down the sites, OnSmash and Rap Godfathers, last year as well as several torrent sites containing copyrighted material. Rapper 50 Cent has claimed that he is responsible on Twitter.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for the joint venture of their favourite Hip Hop rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z. The duo will soon release their joint album titled ‘Watch the Throne’. In the meantime, Kanye has released his first single ‘H.A.M’ last week. Rapper 50 Cent is very appreciative about this venture and keeps high hopes on this. On Sunday, speaking from the Weinstein Golden Globes, 50 Cent said that it should be interesting as two good artists have jointly made it. He added that good collaborations must come out from their joint venture.
